Established in 1963 in Richmond, Virginia, Century Construction specializes in new builds, renovations, and tenant fit-ups.

In 1974, Century Construction Company became a Butler Builder®, solidifying our commitment to innovative solutions and cost-effective construction methods. Introducing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) further fostered a culture of ownership and dedication among our team members, ensuring long-term success and client satisfaction.

Mark G Meland

President

Mark brings 30 years of construction experience to the Century Construction Company team. Before joining Century in 1985, Mark worked in mechanical contracting in Philadelphia. He is a native of Richmond and a civil engineering graduate of Virginia Tech.

As president, Mark monitors all estimates and projects and has a successful record in project planning, cost development, and value engineering.

Owners and architects enjoy working with Mark, and he’s developed strong business relationships through the years, shown in Century’s 75% rate of return business each year.

William G. Hollowell

Bill brings more than 35 years of experience to the table, and has been a licensed Professional Engineer since 1989 Bill maintains credentials as a LEED Accredited Professional. Bill is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the University of Colorado.

Prior to joining Century in 1993, Bill worked in high-rise construction in Atlanta, Chicago, and Minneapolis. He has managed the construction of offices, sports and aquatics facilities, medical buildings, museums, churches, and industrial work.

As executive vice president, Bill leads construction operations, including coordinating managers, quality control, scheduling, and safety.

Neil Palmer

Prior to joining Century in 1997, Neil was employed by Butler Manufacturing™, holding several positions, including design engineer, sales engineer, and regional sales manager. Neil is a civil engineering graduate from Virginia Tech and a LEED-accredited professional.

As vice president, Neil oversees pre-construction and estimating services and his primary goal is to provide quality construction while maintaining the owner’s budget.

During design development, he works closely with owner representatives, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure our clients receive the highest value constructio for their budget.

Ronnie Lester

Ronnie has represented Century for over 35 years, including leading overall management of field operations since 2006.

He is a master craftsman, a hard worker, and a good communicator. Ronnie is liked by everyone he meets, and has excellent rapport with design professionals and subcontractors.

His specialties include constructing technical renovations in critical facilities, implementing phased projects, and developing and maintaining long-term client relationships.

Through his commitment and leadership, Century employees enjoy working on some of the safest construction projects and job sites in the region.
